Descriptions of Committees:

ASEP (After School Enrichment Program): Coordinating with teachers and a few outside vendors to see if they are interested in running a club for a fall session and winter session and set up calendar and facilities requests. Set up registration for website, print rosters for school and teachers to know who is in which club, print rosters for teachers running the club.

 

Back to School Packs: Coordinate list with school and vendor in April and deliver packs to classrooms the week before school year starts in August.

 

Bedtime Story Night: Plans, create and facilitates a story night event for Kindergarten through 2nd grade students with teacher and school administrators as guest readers.

 

Bingo Spooktacular: Running the event of ordering long tables for playing bingo, pre sales for food, bingo cards and raffle tickets, pre order food from Chick fila and Dominios Pizza, set up supplies to run bingo board with school technology department.

 

Bonus Dollars: Help get our accounts set up in the beginning of the year with Harris Teeter and help spread the word to our families on how to give our school credit for shopping at these stores. The beginning of the school year is a must for availability then just monitoring the rest of the year.

 

Box Tops: This person(s) would collect, count and mail in box tops for redemption for PTA as well as coordinate and arrange monthly contests

 

Bulletin Board: Decorates large bulletin board outside front office monthly. Themes based on monthly PTA events.

 

Carnival: Chair will organize a Carnival in the spring.  The chair will have to get prizes, contact and secure vendors, plan activities and games, and get volunteers.  2019-2020 chair will work with 25th year anniversary chair as well.

 

Coca-Cola Give: Chair will create and purchase prizes/rewards for various Coca-Cola Cap contests during the year. Chairperson will work with the committee to scan and enter codes found on Coca-Cola brand bottle caps into a designated website. Chairperson will advertise contest winners, upcoming contests/events, and needs, etc. through PTA Communication Channels.

 

Communications: Social Media posts on PTA Facebook and Twitter pages, update PTA website as needed, and publish weekly newsletter. Other tasks as assigned on PTA website.

 

Cultural Arts: Facilitates 5 assemblies during the school year.

 

Dolphin Dash Fun Run: Plans, facilitates and organizes Dolphin Dash Fun Run in October.

 

Family Arts Night: (Event every two years) One night free event including various parts of the arts as a give-back event to the Sanders Corner community.

 

Finance: Each month open the monthly bank statement and review it against the monthly financial statement and bank reconciliation provided by the Treasurer.  Sign off on such documents, noting any discrepancies, and return the signed documents to the Treasurer for the Record Books.

 

Fundraising: Advocates for the PTA/school needs within the community by working to secure donations from local businesses.

 

Grounds Improvement: Plans, facilitates and organizes 3-4 grounds improvement days for the school year.

 

Holiday Shoppe: Plans, facilitates and organizes child shopping and vendor shopping portions of event on the first Saturday in December.

 

Membership: Plans, facilitates and organizes  the yearly PTA membership drive

 

Movie Nights: Plans, facilities and organizes three movie night events during the school year.

 

MSAAC Representative: The Minority Student Achievement Advisory Committee (MSAAC) is dedicated to work in partnership with the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS), parents and community to further the academic, social and cultural development of every student and to ensure that the needs of all minority students are met. MSAAC supports School Board and staff initiatives, and parent efforts to ensure that our school community becomes culturally competent, providing the corner stone to ensure fair and equitable instruction to all LCPS students. We encourage the development of school cultures where every minority student is afforded the opportunity to achieve his or her full potential, feels welcome and is recognized as an integral member of the student body.All meetings are held at the Loudoun County Public School Administration Building in the School Board Meeting Room.

 

Nominating: Collect nominations for each position and choose the candidate that would best fill the position for the next school year. The official nominees for office will be presented in April and voted on by the membership at the May meeting.

 

Reader Board: The reader board outside the school is updated each week or bi weekly with events happening at the school.

 

Reflections: Chair will advertise, promote the National PTA Cultural Arts program. Contact with the teachers and staff to share this program with students. Collect all entries, assemble a judging committee  (if necessary) and announce winners as needed to move to next level of judging/evaluation.

 

Restaurant Spirit Nights: Plans, facilitates and organizes monthly restaurant fundraiser nights for the school. 

 

Room Parent Liaison: A contact for all room parents in the school for training or passing on information to parents from the school or PTA.

 

SEAC Representative: the Special Education Advisory Committee, composed of parents, educators, administrators, and others concerned with the education of students with disabilities, meet once a month to help advise and assist the local school system with meeting the educational needs to these students.  The SEAC Rep would be a liaison between the school and the committee to make sure SCES is aware of the initiatives and concerns being discussed county wide as well as bringing anything to the committee our parents feel is important for the education of the students with disabilities in our community.  The representative would attend a meeting once a month at the county building and report to the general membership at our meetings. Spirit Wear: Tracks and reorders spirit wear inventory, fulfills spirit wear orders on PTA website, and assists selling spirit wear at PTA events.

 

Staff Appreciation: Plans, facilitates and organizes staff appreciation week during the month of May.

 

Staff Luncheons: Plans, facilitates and organizes 4 staff luncheons during the school year.

 

Staff Recognition: Facilitates staff/teacher/principal yearly awards nominations.

 

Teacher Liaison:  School staff member assigned as a go between school teachers and staff and parents.

 

Volunteer Coordinator: Help organize and recruit volunteers for PTA and school events. Reconcile volunteer hours recorded  through the school check in system and PTA website.

 

Volleyball Game (Staff vs Adult Family Member): Chair will organize and plan a volleyball game to take place in the spring at Stone Bridge HS.  Will need to find volunteers, staff and adult family members to play, have an MC and ref, provide snacks to sell, and help with roster.

 

Watch D.O.G.S.: Coordinates registration and Watch D.O.G.S. schedules throughout the year.

 

Yearbook: Manages photography, creation and layout of the school yearbook for publishing.
