Martin J. Kirwan Memorial Scholarships

In tribute of Mr. Marty Kirwan, our beloved physical education teacher, a scholarship was established in his name.

Each year Stone Bridge High School Seniors, who are Sanders Corner Alumni, are invited to submit a scholarship application.  A SCES PTA Committee reviews these applications and awards two $1,000 scholarships in Mr. Kirwan's honor.

Marty Kirwan was a Physical Education Teacher at Sanders Corner Elementary School for 9 years. He was a vibrant and funny man who brought joy and laughter to the gym every day. Mr. Kirwan was always willing to try something new and was not afraid of failure. During his life, he was a shampoo boy at a salon while in high school, a busboy at a restaurant, worked various construction jobs, was a physical therapy aide, recruited people for a tech firm, and eventually earned his degree and found the job he truly loved as a PE teacher. And there was always a good story behind each experience.

The Martin J. Kirwan Memorial Scholarship Application Form will be available in the spring.  Please contact your Career & College Specialist for more information.
