Dear Sanders Corner Families,

We’re excited to share an update about after-school enrichment programs (ASEP) at Sanders Corner this fall!

You may notice that our ASEP offerings and registration timelines look a little different this semester. We want to share a little background and, most importantly, let you know about the fantastic opportunities available to our students right now — with even more to come!

When the school year began, we did not have volunteers available to coordinate our traditional ASEP program. Rather than let that mean fewer opportunities for our students, the PTA jumped in and began working with outside program partners to bring engaging, high-quality enrichment programs directly to Sanders Corner.

We are thrilled with what we've been able to put together! These programs give our students a chance to learn new skills, explore interests, stay active, make friends, and have fun with their classmates after school.

Programs Available Now

We currently have after-school programs available Tuesday through Friday, from 3:00–4:00 p.m., including:

Players Sports Academy (PSA) 

• Soccer
• Chess
• Basketball
• Speech & Debate
• Flag Football
• Coding

These programs run September 22–November 19 and are being offered through our outside partner, Players Sports Academy. Registration is now open, and space in each program is limited. Please see the attached flyer for additional program information and scan the QR code for the program your child would like to join to register.

Drama Kids

• Drama Kids K–2
• Drama Kids Grades 3–5
• Musical Theatre, Grades K–5

Registration opens this Sunday, Sept. 13. Note: they process tuition fees monthly rather than as a lump sum at the beginning of the session. You can register here beginning Sept. 13: https://dramakids.com/ashburn-leesburg-va/classes-by-age/

And there's more coming!

One important difference with the outside-partner programs is that they do not provide an opportunity for Sanders Corner teachers to lead classes and earn supplemental income.

We know that teacher-led enrichment has been an important part of our ASEP program in the past, and we were thrilled when we shared this at our first PTA meeting and five Sanders Corner parents stepped forward with ideas and interest in leading the coordination for after-school groups!

We are now working with those parents and teachers to develop teacher-led enrichment opportunities, which we anticipate will begin around October.

We're incredibly excited about these classes because they will give our students the chance to learn from some of the wonderful educators they already know and love, while also giving our teachers an opportunity to earn some additional income.

Please stay tuned! We'll share more information about the teacher-led groups, including the classes being offered, schedules, registration, and fees, as soon as those details are finalized.

We know that having different programs and staggered registration dates can be a little confusing, and we appreciate your patience as we build a new model for after-school enrichment this year.

Our goal is simple: make sure Sanders Corner students have access to fun, enriching, high-quality opportunities after school — and we're excited about what we're able to offer this fall.

If your child is interested in one of the programs currently available, we encourage you to take a look and register directly with the program provider. And if you're waiting for a teacher-led opportunity, keep an eye out for more information coming soon!
